The effect of adding tomato residue to the diet on the growth performance, immune indicators, and meat quality of beef cattle
The purpose of this experiment is to investigate the effects of adding tomato residue to the diet on the growth performance, immune indicators, and meat quality of beef cattle. 144 healthy Angus beef bulls with an average weight of (583.69±17.36)kg were randomly divided into 4 groups, with 6 replicates in each group. The control group was fed with a basic diet, while the experimental group added 2%,4%,and 8% tomato residue to the basic diet. The results showed that the final weight of beef cattle in the 8% tomato residue group significantly increased by 2.94%(P<0.05),and the average daily weight gain significantly increased by 8.94%(P<0.05). The average daily feed intake of beef cattle in the 8% tomato residue group significantly increased by 5.13%(P<0.05);The feed to meat ratio significantly decreased by 3.47%(P<0.05). The 8% tomato residue group significantly increased the carcass weight of beef cattle(P<0.05);The shear strength of the longest back muscle of beef cattle in the 4% and 8% tomato residue groups was significantly reduced(P<0.05),and the T-PUFA content in the longest back muscle was significantly increased(P<0.05). The TAA content in the longest back muscle of beef cattle in the 4% tomato residue group was significantly increased(P<0.05). The serum IgA and IL-6 levels of beef cattle were significantly increased in the group of adding 4% and 8% tomato residue(P<0.05);Adding 4% tomato residue to beef cattle serum IL-1 β And IFN-γ The content significantly increased(P<0.05);The addition of 2%~8% tomato residue significantly increased the serum LZM content of beef cattle(P<0.05). Conclusion:Adding 8% tomato pomace can promote beef cattle growth, improve meat quality, and enhance their immunity.
