The effect of adding alfalfa polysaccharides to feed on the growth performance, serum biochemical indicators, and muscle amino acid composition of fattening pigs
To investigate the effects of Alfalfa Polysaccharides(APS)on the growth performance, serum biochemical indicators, and muscle amino acid composition of fattening pigs.A healthy long×large binary hybrid pig with uniform weight(60.42±1.79)kg was designed.144 fattening pigs were divided into control group, experimental groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ,and Ⅲ according to weight and gender principles, with 6 pens in each group and 6 pigs in each pen. They were fed with experimental feed containing basic diet+0,180,360,and 720 mg/kg APS,respectively. The final weight of the APS group added with 720 mg/kg was 3.06%higher than the control group(P<0.05),the daily weight gain of the APS group added with 720 mg/kg was 6.19%higher(P<0.05),and the feed to gain ratio decreased by 6.39%(P<0.05);No changes in feed intake were observed(P>0.05).Supplementing with 360 and 720 mg/kg APS significantly increased serum TP and IgG levels,as well as T-AOC capacity(P<0.05),while significantly downregulating CREA and BUN levels(P<0.05).Supplementing with 720 mg/kg APS significantly downregulated MDA levels(P<0.05).Supplementing APS at 180-720 mg/k significantly increased serine and glutamate content(P<0.05),supplementing APS at 360 and 720 mg/kg significantly increased arginine, aspartate, and cysteine content(P<0.05),supplementing APS at 180 and 720 mg/kg significantly increased glycine and alanine content(P<0.05),supplementing APS at 180 and 360 mg/kg significantly increased methionine content(P<0.05),and supplementing APS at 720 mg/kg significantly increased lysine content(P<0.05).Conclusion:Alfalfa polysaccharides(720 mg/kg)improve the serum biochemical indicators of fattening pigs, enhance muscle amino acid composition, and improve growth performance.
