Research progress on rapid detection methods of malachite green (MG) in aquatic products
Malachite Green (MG),a synthetic triphenylmethane compound, has been widely used in aquaculture despite its known harm to human health. Its use in aquatic products is banned in the United States,European Union, and China, where regulations prohibit its use and it should not be detectable in food. Therefore,it is very important to establish a rapid and convenient method to detect MG in aquatic products to ensure food safety. This paper reviewed the current rapid detection methods for MG,classifying them according to their detecting principles which include surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy, electrochemistry, colorimetry, and fluorescence. The advantages and disadvantages and detection efficacy of each method were compared. The study provides a valuable reference for establishing accurate and rapid determination of MG residues in various systems.
