Feasibility Analysis of Constructing Traditional Chinese Medicine Resource Bases from the Perspective of Globalization
Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)resources are essential for the development of traditional Chinese medicine.Historically,TCM has sourced materials from overseas, and this trend persists today with many varieties of Chinese medicinal materials relying on imports, such as frankincense, myrrh, etc. As TCM undergoes modernization and internationalization, the market demand for TCM resources is increasing. However, wild resources are diminishing, and challenges in planting and breeding arise, including insufficient arable land per capita and suboptimal cultivation quality of imported medicinal materials. Therefore,it is necessary to examine TCM resource supply from the perspective of globalization and focus on the construction of overseas raw material bases and bioengineering to ensure efficient and sustainable TCM resource supply in China. This paper sorts out the development process and current status of imported Chinese medicinal materials, discusses the feasibility of establishing overseas raw material bases for TCM resources, and proposes recommendations for constructing a global supply system of TCM resources.
