Arecae Semen,one of the"Four Southern Herbal Medicines"in China,has been widely used due to its long medicinal history and good clinical efficacy.Many countries and regions have established statutory medicinal standards for Arecae Semen,but there are certain differences among the standards.This article reviews and analyzes the domestic and foreign quality standards,local processing specifications,and related literature of Arecae Semen.It is found that the domestic and international standards for Arecae Semen are relatively consistent in terms of source and characteristics,but there are relatively significant differences in identification,inspection,extractables,and content determination.The quality standards and processing specifications of Arecae Semen in China are constantly improving,and suggestions for improving the standards of Arecae Semen are proposed to provide references for the supervision and quality standard research of Arecae Semen.
