Visualization and Analysis of WOS Database Based Studies on Food for Special Medical Purposes
[Objective]To analyze the literature on the research of food for special medical purposes based on the Web of Science(WOS)database in order to identify the hotspots and frontiers of research in this field internationally.[Method]The WOS core database was searched by performing a subject term field search, with the time set from the construction of the database to 2022,and the search was completed on October 30,2023.Bibliometric methods and CiteSpace software were applied to statistically analyze the literature characteristics such as country/region,institution,journal and keywords.[Result]A total of 121 valid documents were obtained, including 100 articals and 21 reviews. The starting year of the study was 1998,and the annual average number of publications was less than 2 between 1998 and 2015.However,the number of publications and the citation frequency of the literature increased significantly since 2016 and reached a peak in 2022.The countries studied are predominantly in the European region and core research institutions include the European Food Safety Authority(EFSA),the University of Dublin and Jagiellonian University. The first ranked journal in terms of the number of articles is the EFSA JOURNAL(n=56).The core of the highly cited literature relates to the study of special infant formulas and breast milk oligosaccharides.Hot research topics:regulating the application and development of FSMP(keywords:oral nutritional supple-ments,enteral nutrition, functional food),and evaluating the safety of new food ingredients in FSMP applications(keywords:novel food, food supplement, human milk oligosaccharide, food additive).Research trends were:novel food, infant, formula, food supplement.[Conclusion]In recent years, the attention of FSMP research has become a growing trend, and the application and evaluation of new food ingredients in FSMP is a future research trend, and China should explore the research based on this aspect to deeply explore the develop-ment and application potential of FSMP.
