Practical Experience and Enlightenment of Singapore in Food Safety Regulation of Cultured Meat
[Objective]Cultured meat plays a crucial role in implementing the"big food view"concept and the"dual carbon"goals.This study aims to draw lessons from Singapore's experience as the first country globally to approve the commercial sale of such products,providing suggestions for the regulation and assessment of cultured meat in China.[Method]By integrating existing literature,policies,regulations,and public data,this research focuses on Singapore's cultured meat regulatory system and review and assessment processes,revealing the main risks and regulatory approaches of the technology.[Result]Compared to Singapore,China still needs to further refine and detail the regulations for the review and assessment of new food ingredients like cultured meat,taking into account their technological characteristics.[Conclusion]To promote the healthy development of the domestic cultured meat industry and protect public interests,it is recommended to clarify the regulatory responsibilities of different departments,refine the safety assessment framework,encourage the establishment of group standards,and conduct proactive market research and analysis.
