Effects of Milk Consumption Behaviors Intervention on Physical Development and Body Mass Index in School Children
[Objective]To detect the effects of increased milk consumption on physical development and BMI in school children,and provide the scientific evidences for precise intervention of nutrition improving in school children.[Method]Intervention experimental study was adopted.During the study period,the subjects in intervention group were provided 200 mL milk in every school day,meanwhile,nutrition-related health education was conducted.T test and chi-square test were used to detect the differences of physical development,BMI and nutritional status between intervention group and control group at the end of the study.[Result]On the whole,comparing with the data of baseline,the mean height growths in intervention group and control group were 0.08 m and 0.06 m,respectively.The mean weight growths in intervention group and control group were 4.80 kg and 3.58 kg,respectively.The ratio changes of wasting in intervention group and control group were-4.8%and-1.4%,respectively.The ratio changes of overweight and obesity were all similar in both groups and presented declining trends.[Conclusion]Increased milk consumption could improve the physical development and BMI amelioration,and could not cause the occurrence of overweight and obesity.
