Study on Growth,Development and Nutritional Status of Children in Two Counties of Yunnan Province
[Objective]To investigate the growth and development and micronutrient deficiency of children from grade 1 to Grade 3 in Yunnan province, and to provide evidence for improving the nutritional status of students in Yunnan province.[Method]A total of 1 126 children from grade 1 to Grade 3 from 12 primary schools in two places in Yunnan province were selected by random cluster sampling to measure height and weight, calculate BMI.Fasting venous blood was collected from 478 children, hemoglobin levels and serum vitamin A and vitamin D levels were measured, and deficiencies were analyzed.[Result]The rate of stunting was 2.3%.The rate of stunting of Lahu children was higher than that of Han.The rate of mild wasting was 7.6%,and the rate of moderate and severe wasting was 6.9%.The rate of overweight was 5.7%and the rate of obesity was 5.3%.Boys are more likely to be overweight than girls. The serum vitamin A level in children was 0.41(0.37-0.47)µg/mL.The marginal deficiency rate of vitamin A was 5.9%,showing a trend of decreasing with age.Vitamin D level was(26.47±6.45)ng/mL.The deficiency rate and insufficiency rate were 0.8%and 14.4%,respectively.The abnormal rate of vitamin D in boys was lower than that in girls, the Dai was lower than that in Han and Yi,and the Lahu was lower than that in Yi.The abnormal rate of vitamin D showed a trend of increasing with age.The hemoglobin level was 143(137-148)g/L,and there was only one case of anemia. The hemoglobin level of girls was higher than that of boys, and showed a trend of increasing with age.[Conclusion]The growth and micronutrient status of children in Yunnan province still need to be further improved, and attention should be paid to preventing the rapid growth of overweight and obesity.
