[Objective]From the perspective of bibliometrics, this paper summarized and analyzed the characteristics and hot spots of food consumption research in China to provide ideas and decision-making reference for subsequent research.[Method]A total of 498 literatures related to food consumption in China collected by China National Knowledge Network(CNKI)from 1992 to 2023 were selected as the research object, and CiteSpace software was used for visual analysis of literatures.[Result]In terms of the number of articles published, the number of food consumption research documents showed a trend of first increasing and then decreasing, from the perspec-tive of core authors and their cooperative relationships, the research strength was relatively concentrated, but the cooperative network effect was still weak, from the distribution of research institutions,College of Economics and Management of China Agricultural University published most papers in the field of food consumption research, and the core research institutions played an obvious role in the research, from the distribution of published journals, published journals were generally concentrated and stable.Existing research hotspots mainly focused on the influencing factors of rural residents'food consumption, food consumption structure and agricultural production structure, food consumption and dietary nutrition, etc. The evolution of research hotspots was closely related to the concerns of national policies. In the early stage, the research focus was on consumption;in the middle stage,it was mainly on rural residents, green food and urban-rural dif-ferences;in the later stage,it was mainly on dietary nutrition.[Conclusion]In the future, processed food consumption and nutrition intake would be a research direction worthy of attention, and cooperation and exchanges between research institutions should be strengthened, and new theoretical methods should be encouraged to carry out interdisciplinary hot research.
