A Qualitative Evidence-Based Evaluation of Caffeine's Effects on Vigor and Attention
[Objective]To conduct a systematic review of the effects of caffeine intake on vigor and attention in adults.[Method]The literature search was restricted to studies published in English and Chinese for the period of January 1st,2000 and February 28th,2023 us-ing "caffeine","vigor" and "attention" as keywords. Seven databases including PubMed,Embase,Medline,Cochrane,SinoMed,Wanfang Database and CNKI were searched. A comprehensive evaluation of relevant studies about caffeine's effects was conducted using China Food and Health Evidence Evaluation method.[Result]Totally 34 articles that met the criteria were included as the main evidence for the review,including 7 reviews and 27 RCTs. Caffeine intake of 60—400 mg at a time can improve mood,reduce fatigue,increase alertness and enhance attention in healthy adults. The level of evidence is good,and the strength of recommendation is B.[Conclusion]Caf-feine has a wide range of health effects as it boosts vigor and attention in adults in different scenarios.
