FOUR CALCIUM SIGNALING PROTEINS AND THEIR PRELIMINARY STUDIES IN PARASITOLOGY
The invasion of a variety of parasites to hosts and their survival mechanisms in hosts are extremely complicated. However, the main elements that have an impact on these two processes have been revealed gradually.Calcium ion is a kind of important metal ions in parasites and influences a lot of physiological and biochemical activities, such as sports, signal transduction and osmotic pressure maintenance.Calcium ion signaling protein plays a key role by directly binding with calcium ion and interacting with other proteins on the downstream. As a result,a series of physiological and biochemical effects occur in parasites.Because the interaction proteins with calcium ion signaling protein may be the potential new drug receptors and targets, the research of the interaction proteins with calcium ion signaling protein will be of help to develop new drugs and biologics against parasites. However,we cannot further investigate the interaction proteins with calcium ion signaling protein until calcium ion activates calcium ion signaling protein. This paper reviews the important properties and action mechanisms of four calcium ion signaling proteins that exist in parasites and will provide useful information on future studies.
