Isolation,Identification and Biological Characteristics of Salmonella from Ducks in North Guangdong Province
In order to understand the biological characteristics of the endemic strains of Salmonella from ducks in northern Guangdong, serotype identification, virulence gene detection and drug susceptibility test were carried out on the isolates and some strains were preliminarily tested for pathogenicity in mice. The results showed that the isolation rate of salmonella from dead ducks was 57.14%(16/28).62.5%(10/16)strains were identified as Salmonella typhimurium,31.25%(5/16)as Salmonella enteritidis. The isolated strains carried a minimum of 12 virulence genes and a maximum of 19 virulence genes. The isolates were more than 90%resistant to amoxicillin, penicillin and roxithromycin, and were more sensitive to doxycycline, macroscopycin, ciprofloxacin and amikacin, and all strains showed mult-drug resistance. The isolated strains caused morbidity and partial death in mice. The results of study showed that salmonella had a high infection rate in sick meat ducks in northern Guangdong, and the predominant serotypes were Salmonella typhimurium and Salmonella enteritidis, and the prevalent strains were generally multi-drug resistance and had a certain pathogenicity.
