Application of cone beam CT in the morphological study of teeth, dental pulp and root canals
Cone beam CT(CBCT)imaging technology has been widely used in the field of oral diagnosis and treatment, teaching and scientific research for its advantages of minimal image distortion, high spatial resolution, providing three di-mensional images, short scanning time and lower radiation dose compared with traditional CT.In the field of operative dentistry and endodontics,CBCT can be used not only to accurately measure the morphological characteristics of teeth, but also to effectively observe and measure the shape and number of dental pulp chamber and root canals, especially the special variation of pulp chamber and root canals. This article reviews the application of CBCT in the morphological re-searches of teeth and root canal system in recent years.
