Prevention and treatment of complications of attached gingiva augmentation in implant restoration
Implant-supported dentures have become a crucial modality for restoring missing teeth.With the advance-ment of societal living standards,individuals'expectations for implantation extend beyond mere tooth replacement to encom-passing higher aesthetic demands on soft tissues.Following tooth loss,both the soft and hard tissues in the edentulous ar-ea undergo a series of changes.Attached gingiva plays a pivot-al role in safeguarding periodontal health.Insufficient at-tached gingiva can compromise the implant's resistance against external stimuli and potentially result in implant fail-ure under severe circumstances.Attached gingiva augmenta-tion is frequently employed to address issues related to inade-quate attached gingiva;however,this procedure may also give rise to certain complications that impact its success rate.This article aims to elucidate potential complications arising from attached gingiva augmentation during implant restoration and provide recommendations on their management and preven-tion,thereby offering valuable insights for clinical practice.
