Research progress on the application of soft tissue fixation splints in soft tissue augmentation of oral implants
Peri-implant keratogenic gingiva plays a crucial role in the function, aesthetics and long-term stability of den-tal implants, and peri-implant keratogingival widths of less than 2 mm increase the risk of peri-implantitis and marginal bone loss. The ideal keratogingival width can be obtained by keratogingival widening, but the factors such as facial mus-cle traction and chewing movements can affect the vascularization of the graft, which ultimately leads to poor results after keratinized gingival widening.Clinically, soft tissue fixation splints can be used to fix the soft tissues in the surgical area to promote vascularization of the graft and wound healing. This article reviews the development, technical status and fu-ture prospects of soft tissue fixation splints,an auxiliary device for peri-implant gingival widening,in order to provide a certain reference for peri-implant soft tissue management.
