Objective Low density lipoprotein cholesterol,non-high density lipoprotein cholesterol and remnant cholesterol(RC)are used to evaluate the risk of various chronic diseases. We aimed to reveal whether they were associated with mildly reduced estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR).Methods The study recruited 9043 subjects during 2012 to 2013.We conducted multivariable logistic regression to evaluate the association between RC level and the risk of having mildly reduced eGFR,and performed reclassification analysis to evaluate the improvement effect of RC on traditional prediction model of renal insufficiency. Results The odds ratio for the top quartile of RC was 5.602 for mildly reduced eGFR.Meanwhile,RC could screen the potential mildly reduced eGFR population and improve the traditional model for mildly reduced eGFR by 8.70%.Conclusion RC can evaluate the risk of mildly reduced eGFR and have a better recognition and improvement effect in identifying mildly reduced eGFR.RC plays a crucial role in early stage of renal insufficiency.
