Benign biliary stricture(BBS)is a prevalent complication of chronic pancreatitis(CP),with treatment strategies primarily focused on alleviating symptoms of biliary obstruction andmaintaining long-term unobstructed drainage.Endoscopic or surgical treatment is indicated when a biliary stricture is associated with upstream bile duct dilation,complications such as jaundice,cholangitis,and choledocholithiasis occur,or when serum alkaline phosphatase levels are elevated(>2-3 times the upper limit of normal)and(or)bilirubin levels are elevated for 1 month withoutobvious symptoms.In recent years,with the continuous emergence of new technologies,newtechnologies such as intrabile duct radiofrequency ablation are expected to provide new optionsfor patients.This article reviews the progress in treating benign biliary stricture secondary tochronic pancreatitis to provide a reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
