Hypertension is the most common chronic cardiovascular disease worldwide, and one of the leading factors for all-cause death and cardiovascular morbidity. The pathogenesis of hypertension is complex, involving the combined action of genetic, social, and environmental factors.Comprehensive and in-depth basic research on the onset and development mechanisms of hypertension facilitates the precise prevention and early intervention of hypertension. This review summarizes the latest basic research advances in hypertension, focusing on the mechanisms of blood pressure regulation and hypertensive pathogenesis from the facets of genetic susceptibility, epigenetic modification, circadian rhythm regulation, immune modulation, and vascular remodeling, and elaborating the cross-link under the concept of onco-hypertension.This review provides new insights and targets for the prevention and treatment of hypertension.
