Secondary hypertension is not uncommon, but its diagnosis rate has been at a low level.Improving the early diagnosis rate of secondary hypertension is of great significance in reducing the risk of hypertension-related target organ damage and improving the level of hypertension prevention and treatment in China. In large and medium-sized medical institutions in China, the main factor limiting the improvement of the diagnosis rate of secondary hypertension is not the auxiliary examination or testing methods, but the awareness of active screening.Strengthening the education and training of clinicians and developing a screening process for secondary hypertension can help improve the early diagnosis rate of this disease.Screening for secondary hypertension should be routinely performed in hypertensive patients with early age of onset, severe elevation of blood pressure, rapid progression of disease, ineffectiveness of conventional therapeutic measures, and extensive target organ damage.
