Associations of SREBP1 Gene polymorphisms with fatty acid composition in Simmental
The aim was to investigate the effect of the genetic polymorphisms of sterol regulatory element binding fac- tor 1(SREBP1) gene on the fatty acid (FA) composition of the muscle of 165 Simmental bulls. The polymorphisms in the intron 5 of bovine SREBP1 was genotyped by PCR to investigate the association. The results showed that the 84bp indel mutation in intron 5 was significantly associated with palmitc acid(C16:1), stearic acid(C18:0) ,oleic acid (C18 : 1), SFA, triglycerides, C16 index. Cattle with LL genotype had higher palmitc acid (C16 : 1), triglycerides and C16 index than those of the LS genotype,on the contrary, lower stearic acid(C18:0) and SFA than LS genotype.
