Protective effect of Wengqin decoction in ducklings infected with Pasteurella mul-tocida
To investigate the preventive effect of Wengqin decoction(WQ)in Pasteurella multoci-da(Pm)infected ducklings, the minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC)and minimum bactericid-al concentration(MBC)were determined by tube dilution;ducklings were pretreated with florfeni-col(FF)and WQ by gavage for 7 d and then orally infected with Pm,the protective effect of WQ was assessed by comparing daily gain and mortality rate, colonization and internalization of Pm in-to liver was detected by RT-PCR and bacterial count, hemocyte changes was detected by complete blood count(CBC),and the expression of IL-6,TNF-α,IL-10 and IL-4 in duodenum were detected by RT-qPCR.The results showed that Pm was sensitive to WQ;the mortality rate decreased, and Green-Eco-Healthy Animal Husbandry of Zhejiang Province/Zhejiang Provincial Research Cen-ter for Animal Health Diagnostics & Advanced Technology/Zhejiang International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Veterinary Medicine and Health Management/China-Australia Joint Laboratory for Animal Health Big Data Analytics,College of Animal Science and Technol-ogy & College of Veterinary Medicine of Zhejiang A&F University,Hangzhou 311300,China;2.Faculty of Agriculture,Jinhua Polytechnic,Jinhua,Zhejiang 321007,China;3.Shaoxing Xian-heng Duck Breeding Co.,Ltd.,Shaoxing,Zhejiang 312000,China)the daily gain increased in Pm-infected ducklings after WQ intervention, and the number of Pm present in liver decreased, hemoglobin(HGB)and hematocrit(HCT)levels were recovered, and the gene expression of Pm-induced IL-10 and IL-4 was fully suppressed. In conclusion,WQ can ef-fectively protect ducklings from Pm infection, and provided technical support for epidemic preven-tion and control of Pm.
