Cold resistance and coarse feeding tolerance traits of black pig in northeastern frigid area of China and thoughts on industry development
Due to its unique cold climate and geographic environment characterized by vast barren lands and forests,the northeastern frigid area has fostered the rapid development of a distinctive black pig industry,which has a promising future.This article discusses the origin,genetic charac-teristics,and conservation status of black pig breeds,including the Min pig,Songliao black pig,Jishen black pig and Dongliao black pig as well as Xinjilin black pig.It thoroughly investigates the cold resistance and coarse feeding tolerance traits.Finally,the article analyzes the problems existing and suggestions in the black pig industry development in the northeastern frigid area.
