Analysis of value of ultrasonography in differential diagnosis of thyroid cancer and nodular goiter
Objective To investigate the clinical value of ultrasonography in the differential diagnosis of thyroid cancer and nodular goiter.Methods 200 patients with thyroid diseases were studied,of which 100 patients with thyroid cancer were selected as thyroid cancer group and 100 patients with nodular goiter were selected as nodular goiter group.Both groups were examined by ultrasonography.The sensitivity,specificity and accuracy of examined by ultrasonography were analyzed.The ultrasonographic manifestations and examination satisfaction of nodules of the two groups were compared.Results The sensitivity,specificity,and accuracy of ultrasonography in the differential diagnosis of thyroid cancer and nodular goiter were 95.0%(95/100),97.0%(97/100),and 96.0%(194/200),respectively.There were 95 low echoes,23 high echoes and 6 mixed echoes in the thyroid cancer group,while 7 low echoes,53 high echoes and 113 mixed echoes in the nodular goiter group.There were 30 nodules with blood flow grading of grade Ⅰ,94 nodules with blood flow grading of grade Ⅱ-Ⅲ in the thyroid cancer group,while 157 nodules with blood flow grading of grade Ⅰ,16 nodules with blood flow grading of grade Ⅱ-Ⅲ in the nodular goiter group.There were 26 nodules with clear margins and 98 with blurred margins in the thyroid cancer group,while 130 nodules with clear margins and 43 with blurred margins in the nodular goiter group.There were 97 nodules with calcification and 27 without calcification in the thyroid cancer group,while 18 nodules with calcification and 155 without calcification in the nodular goiter group.The differences in nodule echogenicity,blood flow grading,margins and calcification between the two groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in patients'satisfaction with the examination between the thyroid cancer group(95.0%)and the nodular goiter group(98.0%)(P>0.05).Conclusion Ultrasonography has significant clinical value in differential diagnosis of thyroid cancer and nodular goiter,and can provide accurate and reliable basis for patients to carry out treatment,which is worthy of clinical promotion.
