Investigation on the clinical efficacy of Pixu decoction combined with growth hormone in the treatment of idiopathic short stature and its influence on the expression of IGFBP-3 and IGF-1 in serum
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of Pixu decoction combined with growth hormone in the treatment of idiopathic short stature and its influence on the expression of insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3(IGFBP-3)and insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF-1)in serum. Methods 70 child patients with idiopathic short stature were divided into a control group and an observation group by random number table method, with 35 cases in each group. The control group was treated with growth hormone, and the observation group was treated with Pixu decoction on the basis of the control group. The increase of height after 6 months and 12 months, and improvement of serum IGFBP-3 and IGF-1 before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results The increase of height in the observation group were(5.3±0.6)and(11.2±0.8)cm after 6 months and 12 months of treatment, which were higher than those of(4.1±1.0)and(8.9±0.9)cm in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the serum IGFBP-3 of(6.8±1.2)mg/L and IGF-1 of(452.0±14.1)ng/ml in the observation group were higher than those of(6.0±0.9)mg/L and(388.5±17.1)ng/ml in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The treatment of idiopathic short stature by Pixu decoction combined with growth hormone can effectively improve the serum IGFBP-3 and IGF-1 of child patients, and promote the growth of height. The application effect is remarkable.
