Observation on efficacy and postoperative complications of modified radical mastectomy and breast-conserving surgery for early breast cancer
Objective To explore the efficacy and postoperative complications of modified radical mastectomy and breast-conserving surgery for early breast cancer. Methods 78 cases of early breast cancer patients were divided into a control group and an observation group according to different surgical methods, with 39 cases in each group. The control group was treated with modified radical mastectomy, and the observation group was treated with breast-conserving surgery. The operation indexes, complications and recurrence, breast cosmetic effect and quality of life of the two groups were compared. Results The intraoperative blood loss of(268.45±32.16)ml and postoperative drainage volume of(170.95±28.37)ml in the observation group were lower than(433.54±50.27)and(382.62±52.08)ml in the control group;and the operation time of(162.31±23.05)min and hospital stay of(12.13±2.65)d in the observation group were shorter than(221.47±29.26)min and(15.48±3.16)d in the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of complications of 7.69%in the observation group was significantly lower than 38.46%in the control group(P<0.05).The recurrence rate within 1 year was comparable with that in the control group(P>0.05).The excellent and good cosmetic rate of 94.87 in the observation group was significantly higher than 74.36%in the control group(P<0.05).At 6 months after surgery, the scores of physiological status, functional status, social status, emotional status, additional attention, sleep status and compliance status in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The curative effect of modified radical mastectomy and breast-conserving surgery on early breast cancer is equivalent, but the breast-conserving surgery has less trauma, low incidence of postoperative complications, good cosmetic effect, and can better improve the quality of life.
