Study on the correlation of degree of plaque enhancement by contrast-enhanced ultrasound with anterior circulation cerebral infarction by contrast-enhanced ultrasound
Objective To explore the correlation of degree of plaque enhancement by contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS)with anterior circulation cerebral infarction by contrast-enhanced ultrasound. Methods A total of 41 patients with carotid plaque were selected for CEUS examination.According to the CEUS results, the patients were divided into plaque group and cerebral infarction group, with 26 and 15 cases respectively.Comparison was made on CEUS parameters[plaque thickness, difference of arrival time(DAT),difference of time to peak(DTTP),plaque area(A),enhancement intensity(EI),enhancement density(ED),carotid artery stenosis rate],as well as plaque CEUS parameters of patients with different degree of plaque enhancement between the two groups. Results The plaque group had significantly thinner plaque thickness of(2.51±0.29)mm than(3.05±0.48)mm in the cerebral infarction group;the plaque group had DAT of(2.36±0.45)s and DTTP of(2.41±0.36)s,which were significantly longer than(2.07±0.36)and(1.66±0.37)s in the cerebral infarction group;the plaque group had EI of(11.21±4.39)dB,ED of(15.45±3.47)dB/mm2 and carotid artery stenosis rate of(71.92±6.08)%,which were significantly lower than(19.97±4.54)dB,(27.21±5.06)dB/mm2 and(88.56±7.32)%in the cerebral infarction group;the difference was significant(P<0.05).But there was no significant difference in A between the two groups(P>0.05).The distribution of the degree of plaque enhancement in 41 patients:15 cases in grade Ⅰ,13 cases in grade Ⅱ,9 cases in grade Ⅲ,and 4 cases in grade Ⅳ.With the increasing degree of plaque intensification, plaque thickness increased significantly,DAT and DTTP decreased significantly, and EI and ED increased significantly(P<0.05).The degree of plaque enhancement was positively correlated with plaque thickness,EI,ED,and the occurrence of anterior circulation cerebral infarction(r=0.869,0.761,0.741,0.407;P<0.05).The degree of plaque enhancement was negatively correlated with DAT and DTTP(r=-0.812,-0.796;P<0.05).Conclusion There is a strong correlation between the degree of CEUS plaque enhancement and anterior circulation cerebral infarction, and CEUS can be used to effectively evaluate the condition of patients.
