Clinical efficacy of salbutamol sulfate aerosol and theophylline sustained-release tablets in the emergency treatment of elderly asthma
Objective To explore the clinical effect of salbutamol sulfate aerosol and theophylline sustained-release tablets in the emergency treatment of elderly asthma. Methods 80 elderly asthmatic patients were selected.Using computer random number grouping method, they were divided into conventional group and combined group, with 40 cases per group.Patients in the conventional group was treated with salbutamol sulfate aerosol inhalation treatment, while patients in the combined group was treated with salbutamol sulfate aerosol inhalation and theophylline sustained-release tablets. The forced expiratory volume in one second, levels of inflammatory factors[interleukin(IL)-4,IL-13,gamma-interferon(IFN-γ)]before and after treatment, and clinical efficacy, and incidence of adverse reactions of the two groups were compared. Results After 4 and 8 weeks of treatment, the forced expiratory volume in one second in both groups was higher than that before treatment;the forced expiratory volume in one second in the combined group were(2.47±0.21)and(2.62±0.17)L,which were higher than(2.03±0.23)and(2.16±0.11)L in the conventional group(P<0.05).The total clinical effective rate of the combined group was 90.00%,which was higher than 67.50%of the conventional group(P<0.05).After 2 and 8 weeks of treatment, the levels of IL-4,IL-13 and IFN-γ in both groups were lower than those before treatment;IL-4 levels in the combined group were(12.03±1.52)and(10.47±1.61)pg/ml,which were lower than(15.98±1.47)and(12.69±1.63)pg/ml in the conventional group;IL-13 levels in the combined group were(195.26±21.69)and(182.36±27.98)pg/ml,which were lower than(213.98±21.66)and(200.48±26.39)pg/ml in the conventional group;IFN-γ levels in the combined group were(8.36±0.62)and(5.17±0.32)pg/ml,which were lower than(10.47±0.69)and(7.69±0.36)pg/ml in the conventional group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the combined group(22.50%)and the conventional group(17.50%)(P>0.05).Conclusion Salbutamol sulfate aerosol combined with theophylline sustained-release tablets in emergency treatment of elderly patients with asthma has high safety, which can also alleviate inflammatory reactions and improve respiratory function.
