Clinical effect analysis of chronic sinusitis after radiochemotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma treated with nasal endoscopic surgery
Objective To explore the clinical effect of nasal endoscopic surgery on chronic sinusitis after radiochemotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Methods 52 patients with chronic sinusitis after radiochemotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma were selected and divided into a control group(conservative treatment)and an observation group(nasal endoscopic surgery)according to different treatment methods, with 26 cases in each group. The disappearance time of symptoms and signs, symptom score, complication rate and treatment effect were compared between the two groups. Results Compared with the control group(73.08%),the total effective rate of the observation group(96.15%)was higher(P<0.05).In the observation group, the disappearance time of nasal congestion, dizziness and headache, hyposmia, nasal mucosal congestion and swelling, and purulent secretions in nasal sinus opening area were(2.41±0.78),(2.32±0.69),(2.95±0.73),(3.25±0.92)and(2.41±0.80)d,which were shorter than(4.65±1.23),(4.68±1.24),(6.89±1.64),(6.71±1.48)and(4.33±1.06)d in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the observation group had the scores of nasal symptoms, extranasal symptoms, sleep disorders,ear/face symptoms and mental dysfunction on the sinonasal outcome test-22(SNOT-22)were(4.08±1.03),(2.41±0.78),(3.11±0.98),(2.95±1.04)and(2.71±0.80)points,which were lower than(8.59±1.26),(4.25±1.06),(5.49±1.22),(5.80±1.37)and(5.64±1.43)points in the control group(P<0.05).There was little difference in complication rate between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion For the patients with chronic sinusitis after radiochemotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma, the effect of nasal endoscopic surgery is remarkable.
