Perivascular epithelial cell tumors of the pancreas:a case report
Perivascular epithelial cell tumors(PEComa)of the pancreas are rare mesenchymal tumors that can occur anywhere in the body.In this growing family of mesenchymal tumors, the most common tumors include renal and hepatic agiomyolipoma(AML)and lymphangiomyomatosis(LAM).Other less common entities include malignant ligamentous fibrocytoma and other clear cell tumors of the pelvis.A histopathology examination of these tumors showed perivascular epithelial cell features. The characteristic immunohistochemical features include melanocyte markers.PEComas of the pancreas are rare.Fine needle aspiration may be misdiagnosed as solid pseudopapillary tumor, neuroendocrine tumor or metastatic clear cell carcinoma of the kidney. There are few relevant literature reports in China. In this paper,a 43-year-old woman with PEComa of the pancreas is reported. The clinical and pathological features, imaging features, diagnosis and differential diagnosis are summarized,in order to improve the domestic doctors'understanding of the disease and avoid misdiagnosis.
