Observation on clinical effect of Tongluo Qutong ointment combined with lumbar traction in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation with cold-dampness obstruction syndrome
Objective To explore the clinical effect of Tongluo Qutong ointment combined with lumbar traction in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation with cold-dampness obstruction syndrome.Methods 96 cases of lumbar disc herniation patients with cold-dampness obstruction syndrome were selected and divided into a control group and a study group,each with 48 cases.The control group was treated with lumbar traction,while the study group was treated with lumbar traction and Tongluo Qutong ointment.The scores of traditional Chinese medicine syndromes,lumbar function,lumbar mobility,quality of life,degree of lumbar pain,serum cytokines and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)were compared between the two groups.Results In terms of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores,the scores for low back pain,sciatica and lower limb numbness of the study group were(1.65±0.36),(0.55±0.58),and(1.57±0.30)points,which were lower than(2.34±0.44),(1.42±0.43)and(2.11±0.45)points of the control group(t=8.409,8.348,6.918;P<0.05).The Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA)score of the study group was(21.01±3.23)points,which was higher than(19.34±2.18)points of the control group,while the Oswestry Disability Index(ODI)score was(16.24±2.30)points,which was lower than(18.59±2.08)points of the control group(t=2.969,5.250;P<0.05).The lumbar anterior flexion and lumbar posterior extension in the study group were(40.17±3.04)and(19.17±3.07)°,which were higher than(33.11±4.15)° and(16.05±3.05)° in the control group(t=9.508,4.995;P<0.05).In the study group,the scores of physical function,social function and psychological function were(88.71±5.59),(91.05±9.84)and(93.52±9.34)points,which were higher than(73.26±5.53),(86.07±9.41),(86.32±9.30)points in the control group(t=13.613,2.534,3.785;P<0.05).The study group had VEGF of(104.11±23.51)ng/L,interleukin-1β(IL-1β)of(83.75±13.31)ng/L,interleukin-6(IL-6)of(64.24±12.18)ng/L,and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)of(52.14±10.04)ng/L,which were lower than(134.65±30.42),(97.30±13.42),(74.01±13.23),(68.53±10.08)ng/L of the control group(t=5.503,4.967,3.764,7.982;P<0.05).The visual analogue scale(VAS)score of the study group was(2.04±0.48)points,which was lower than(3.51±0.46)points of the control group(t=15.319,P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of lumbar traction and Tongluo Qutong ointment can improve the clinical symptoms of lumbar disc herniation patients with cold-dampness obstruction syndrome,enhance lumbar function and mobility,reduce pain,thereby improving quality of life and promoting patient recovery.
