Study on the influence of birthing ball exercise combined with Hegu acupoint pressure on natural labor and delivery outcome
Objective To explore the influence of birthing ball exercise combined with Hegu acupoint pressure on natural labor and delivery outcome. Methods A simple random sampling method was used to select 1000 cases of primigravid women with single fetus in cephalic position at 37-37+6 weeks of gestation, and they were divided into an observation group and a control group, with 500 cases in each group. The observation group received the birthing ball exercise combined with Hegu acupoint pressure in the midwife clinic on the basis of routine prenatal care, while the control group received routine prenatal care and post-delivery guidance.Comparison was made on mode of labor, gestational weeks, delayed pregnancy, delivery mode and pregnancy outcome(amount of hemorrhage at 2 h postpartum, neonatal Apgar score at 1 min after birth, postpartum hemorrhage, and neonatal asphyxia)and labor duration of vaginal delivery between the two groups. Results In the observation group,414 cases completed the study,of which 361 cases were delivered vaginally;in the control group,463 cases completed the study,of which 363 cases were delivered vaginally. The rates of natural labor and undelayed pregnancy were 88.89%and 90.58%in the observation group, which were higher than 82.51%and 84.88%in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The difference in gestational weeks of delivery between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).The rate of vaginal delivery in the observation group was 87.20%,which was higher than 78.40%in the control group;the rate of cesarean section was 12.80%,which was lower than 21.60%in the control group. The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There were no significant differences between the two groups in the amount of hemorrhage at 2 h postpartum, incidence of postpartum hemorrhage, neonatal Apgar score at 1 min after birth, and incidence of neonatal asphyxia(P>0.05).The duration of the first stage of labor in the observation group was(8.86±5.12)h and the total duration of labor was(9.87±5.24)h,which were shorter than(9.68±5.05)and(10.67±5.27)h in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the duration of the second and third stages of labor between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The application of birthing ball exercise combined with Hegu acupoint pressure at 38 weeks'gestation can reduce the rate of delayed pregnancy, promote natural labor, increase the rate of vaginal delivery and shorten the labor process.
