Analysis of the clinical effects of internal fixation and artificial hip arthroplasty in the treatment of elderly patients with hip fractures
Objective To analyze the clinical effects of internal fixation and artificial hip arthroplasty in the treatment of elderly patients with hip fractures. Methods 78 elderly patients with hip fractures were selected.According to the different treatment methods, all patients were divided into a replacement group(performing artificial hip arthroplasty)and an internal fixation group(performing internal fixation).Comparison was made on perioperative clinical indicators, occurrence of complications, treatment effect, visual analogue scale(VAS)score and Harris score between the two groups. Results Compared with the internal fixation group, patients in the replacement group had shorter postoperative hospital stay, shorter weight-bearing time, and less bleeding volume(P<0.05).At 1 d postoperatively, the difference in VAS scores between the replacement group and internal fixation group was not significant(P>0.05).Compared with(3.13±0.84)points in the internal fixation group, the VAS score of(1.31±0.71)points in the replacement group was lower at 7 d postoperatively(P<0.05).Preoperatively,the difference in Harris scores between the replacement group and internal fixation group was not significant(P>0.05).Compared with the internal fixation group[(70.29±5.29)and(82.04±5.76)points],the Harris scores in the replacement group[(80.19±7.36)and(91.29±8.35)points]were higher at 6 and 12 months postoperatively(P<0.05).Compared with 76.32%in the internal fixation group, the excellent rate of 92.50%was significantly higher in the replacement group(P<0.05).Compared with 23.68%in the internal fixation group, the incidence of postoperative complications was significantly lower in the replacement group(5.00%)(P<0.05).Conclusion Compared with internal fixation, artificial hip arthroplasty is more effective for hip fractures in the elderly, which can improve joint function recovery, help patients shorten recovery time, and reduce complications.
