An investigation of the effect of ganciclovir ophthalmic gel and interferon eye drops in the treatment of pediatric herpes simplex virus keratitis
Objective To evaluate the effect of ganciclovir ophthalmic gel and interferon eye drops in the treatment of pediatric herpes simplex virus keratitis.Methods 100 cases of pediatric herpes simplex virus keratitis were divided into a control group and an experimental group by computer randomized method,with 50 cases in each group.The control group was treated with interferon eye drops,and the experimental group was treated with ganciclovir eye gel combined with interferon eye drops.Comparison was made on therapeutic effect,symptom resolution time,visual acuity level,inflammatory factors[C-reactive protein(CRP),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-8(IL-8),interferon-α(IFN-α)]levels and the occurrence of adverse reactions between the two groups.Results The total effective rate of 98.00%in the experimental group was higher than 84.00%in the control group(P<0.05).The regression time of ocular irritation,ulcer and corneal congestion in the experimental groups were(6.50±1.22),(12.51±5.32)and(7.01±1.44)d,which were shorter than(10.41±2.50),(21.08±4.65)and(12.38±2.30)d in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment,the visual acuity and INF-α levels in both groups were higher than those before treatment,while CRP,TNF-α and IL-8 levels were lower than those before treatment;the experimental group had visual acuity of(0.95±0.13)and INF-α of(118.20±9.83)ng/L,which were higher than(0.80±0.12)and(87.64±7.25)ng/L in the control group;the experimental group had CRP of(3.44±0.10)mg/L,TNF-α of(29.53±9.20)ng/L,IL-8 of(49.63±6.05)ng/L,and TNF-α of(29.53±9.20)ng/L,which were lower than(8.62±0.75)mg/L,(44.08±8.46)ng/L,and(70.22±4.76)ng/L in the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in the experimental group(6.00%)was lower than that in the control group(8.00%)(P>0.05).Conclusion Ganciclovir ophthalmic gel combined with interferon eye drops regimen for the treatment of pediatric herpes simplex virus keratitis can obtain better results,shorten the recovery time,better improve the level of inflammatory factors,and do not increase the incidence of adverse reactions,which is of great significance.
