Analysis of efficacy and adverse reactions of metoprolol combined with irbesartan in the treatment of senile hypertension
Objective To analyze the effect and adverse reactions of metoprolol combined with irbesartan in the treatment of senile hypertension. Methods 68 elderly patients with hypertension were divided into a conventional group and a study group by random sampling method, with 34 cases in each group. Patients in the conventional group were treated with metoprolol alone, while patients in the study group were treated with metoprolol combined with irbesartan. The therapeutic effect, blood pressure, heart rate, occurrence of adverse reaction, quality of life score and endocrine related indicators were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the study group was 94.12%,which was higher than 70.59% of the conventional group, and there was statistical value (P<0.05). After treatment, the study group had diastolic blood pressure of (77.51±8.31) mm Hg (1 mm Hg=0.133 kPa),systolic blood pressure of (125.54±11.26) mm Hg,and heart rate of (71.36±6.25) beats/min,which were lower than (86.99±10.74) mm Hg,(138.74±11.65) mm Hg,and (80.47±10.53) beats/min in the conventional group, and there was statistical value (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of physical function,role-physical,bodily pain, general health, mental health, social function, vitality, and role-emotional of the study group were (89.98±14.32),(90.97±10.87),(86.89±10.83),(91.78±14.37),(82.21±16.13) and (89.89±10.94),(88.34±14.38),and (92.25±11.34) points, which were higher than (74.64±13.78),(85.01±11.21),(80.81±10.46),(85.05±13.22),(74.01±15.23),(81.20±10.68),(81.58±13.10),and (83.89±11.13) points of the conventional group. There was statistical value (P<0.05). There was no statistical significance in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, the study group had fasting blood glucose of (5.46±0.51) mmol/L,creatinine of (97.02±7.14) μmol/L,urea nitrogen of (6.01±0.47) mmol/L,total cholesterol of (5.52±1.75) mmol/L,and triglyceride of (1.75±1.21) mmol/L,which were lower than (5.92±0.43) mmol/L,(107.64±9.85) μmol/L,(7.55±0.74) mmol/L,(6.78±1.36) mmol/L,and (2.49±1.18) mmol/L of the conventional group. There was statistical value (P<0.05). Conclusion Metoprolol combined with irbesartan has significant effect and high clinical application value in the treatment of elderly patients with hypertension.
