Study on the effect of acupoint application on cardiac function in patients with chronic heart failure of Qi-deficiency and blood-stasis type
Objective To observe the effect of acupoint application on cardiac function in patients with chronic heart failure of Qi-deficiency and blood-stasis type. Methods 60 patients with chronic heart failure of Qi-deficiency and blood-stasis type were selected and randomly divided into a control group (n=30) and a treatment group (n=30). The control group was treated with conventional Western medicine,and the treatment group was treated with acupoint application on the basis of the control group. Comparison was made on traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score,quality of life score,6-min walking distance (6MWD),cardiac function indicators[N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP),left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD),left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF)]between the two groups. Results After treatment,the 6-min walking distance in both groups was longer than that before treatment,while the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score and quality of life score were lower than those before treatment;the 6-min walking distance of (386.47±56.71) m in the treatment group was longer than (326.43±57.48) m in the control group;the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score and quality of life score were (16.87±3.83) and (32.03±6.41) points in the treatment group,which were lower than (20.77±2.79) and (26.13±6.51) points in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment,NT-proBNP and LVEDD in both groups were significantly lower than those before treatment,and LVEF was higher than that before treatment;NT-proBNP and LVEDD were (690.53±206.17) pg/ml and (46.27±4.12) mm in the treatment group,which were significantly lower than (836.27±220.28) pg/ml and (48.47±3.29) mm in the control group;LVEF of (54.33±3.24)% in the treatment group was higher than (52.17±2.98)% in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Acupoint application can alleviate the clinical symptoms of patients with chronic heart failure of Qi-deficiency and blood-stasis type and improve their cardiac function.
