Objective To study the correlation between serum inflammatory indexes and the course of periodontitis in smoking population. Methods 143 cases of periodontitis patients with smoking history admitted to our hospital from June 2019 to June 2023 were selected as the study object(Group A).At the same time,143 healthy volunteers who came to our hospital for physical examination were selected as the control group and 143 patients with simple periodon-titis treated in our hospital(group B).Compare the serum inflammatory indicators[interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-1(IL-1),tumor necrosis factor(TNF)],sulcus bsulcus index(SBI),plaque index(PLI),probing depth(PD),and attach-ment loss(AL)levels of group A,group B and control group.Spearman correlation was used to analyze the correlation between serum levels of IL-6,IL-1,TNF-α and SBI,PLI,PD,AL.Results Serum levels of IL-6,IL-1,TNF-α,SBI,PLI,PD and AL in groups A and B were higher than those in control group(P<0.05).Serum levels of IL-6,IL-1,TNF-α,SBI,PLI,PD and AL in group A were higher than those in group B(P<0.05).Serum IL-6 level was positively correlated with SBI,PLI,PD and AL(P<0.05).Serum IL-1 level was positively correlated with SBI,PLI,PD and AL(P<0.05).Serum TNF-α level was a positive correlation between SBI,PLI,PD and AL(P<0.05).Conclusion The expression of serum inflammatory markers was abnormally high in periodontitis patients with smoking history, which was positively correlated with the course of periodontitis.
