Changes and diagnostic value of serum matrix metalloproteinase-9 combined with vascular endothelial growth factor in pa-tients with acute exacerbation of COPD
Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of serum matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9)and vascu-lar endothelial growth factor(VEGF)in acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods 120 patients with AECOPD(42 cases of grade Ⅰ,38 cases of grade Ⅱ,40 cases of grade Ⅲ)and 120 patients with stable COPD were selected as the study subjects.Serum MMP-9 and VEGF levels were detected in all patients and the differences of data in each group were compared.Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the risk factors of AECOPD,and receiver operating characteristic(ROC)was used to evaluate the diagnostic value of related indicators for AECOPD.Results The levels of serum MMP-9 and VEGF in patients with AECOPD were higher than those in pa-tients with stable COPD(P<0.05).With the increase of clinical grade, the levels of serum MMP-9 and VEGF in AE-COPD patients increased gradually(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that higher MMP-9(OR=1.570)and higher VEGF level(OR=1.486)were risk factors for AECOPD(P<0.05).ROC curve analysis showed that ser-um MMP-9 and VEGF levels had certain diagnostic value for AECOPD,with AUC of 0.763 and 0.785,respectively,and the AUC of the combination of the two reached 0.871.Conclusion The levels of serum MMP-9 and VEGF are re-lated to the severity of COPD patients, and have diagnostic ability for AECOPD.
