The correlation between ORMDL3,TSLP and Th1/Th2 balance in children with allergic rhinitis and the value of predicting disease severity
Objective To explore the correlation between mucin like protein 3(ORMDL3),thymic stromal lympho-poietin(TSLP),and helper T lymphocyte Th1/Th2 balance in children with allergic rhinitis, and the value of predicting disease severity. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the medical records of 226 children with allergic rhinitis who received treatment in hospitals from April 2021 to April 2023.According to the severity of allergic rhinitis,144 cases were divided into a mild group and 82 cases into a moderate to severe group. The levels of ORMDL3,TSLP,and Th1/Th2 were compared between the two groups. The correlation between ORMDL3,TSLP,and Th1/Th2 balance in children with allergic rhinitis was analyzed,as well as the influencing factors of the severity of allergic rhinitis in chil-dren.Evaluate the predictive value of ORMDL3 and TSLP for the severity of allergic rhinitis in children. Results The Th1/Th2 levels in the mild and moderate to severe groups were(1.61±0.54)and(0.89±0.27),respectively.TheORMDL3 mRNA levels were(1.34±0.32)and(2.06±0.65),respectively.The serum TSLP levels were(30.42±4.59)mg/mL and(32.08±5.67)mg/mL,respectively,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).ORMDL3 and TSLP are negatively correlated with Th1 and Th1/Th2(P<0.05),and positively correlated with Th2(P<0.05).ORMDL3(OR=4.963,95%CI:1.762~13.979)and TSLP(OR=3.995,95%CI:1.418~11.252)are risk factors for moderate to severe allergic rhinitis(P<0.05).The sensitivity of ORMDL3 and TSLP single and combined predic-tion for moderate to severe allergic rhinitis were 0.83,0.72,and 0.91,respectively,with specificity of 0.77,0.79,and 0.72.The area under the curve was 0.779,0.731,and 0.874,respectively.Conclusion ORMDL3,TSLP,and Th1/Th2 are negatively correlated and can predict the severity of allergic rhinitis in children.
