Preliminary Exploration of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine in the Treatment of Canine Cognitive Dysfunction
Cognitive dysfunction syndrome is common in elderly dogs, with a variety of symptoms that severely impact the dog's quality of life and the owner's experience.Canine cognitive dysfunction syndrome shares certain clinical and pathological features with Alzheimer's disease in humans. While traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)has had several successful cases and experiences in treating Alzheimer's disease, there are few clinical reports on treating canine cognitive dysfunction in traditional Chinese veterinary medicine. This paper reports a case of treating canine cognitive dysfunction using TCM methods, introducing the diagnostic and treatment approach, with the aim of providing reference for TCM diagnosis and treatment of this condition in veterinary practice.
