Taking the untreated effluent from a water supply plant in Suzhou as the experimental object, the effects of disinfectant dosage, reaction time, reaction temperature and other reaction conditions on the residual chlorine concentration in the effluent and the production of disinfection by-products trihalomethanes(THMs)are investigated. The purpose of the experiment is to simulate the addition of disinfectants before and after the clean water tank in a water supply plant, and explore a suitable disinfectant addition plan based on this, which can further reduce the generation of THMs in the factory water while ensuring residual chlorine. The comprehensive comparison results show that the larger the dosage of disinfectant, the longer the contact time of disinfectant, and the higher the reaction water temperature, the higher the amount of THMs generated. At the same chlorine dosage, the addition of sodium hypochlorite with concentrations of 10%and 5%has little effect on the trend of THMs generation, while the use of segmented addition(chlorine disinfection before and after the clean water tank)can achieve the goal of reducing THMs generation. When using 10%sodium hypochlorite disinfectant, the addition of 12 mg/L chlorine and 5 mg/L chlorine are the lowest THMs generation disinfectant combinations in the experiment.
