Effects on Sugar Beet Seedlings by Applying TM36 in Soil
[Objective]In order to explore the effects of different application amounts of TM36(containing calcium carbonate and mepiquat chloride homologues)on the growth of sugar beet seedlings,[Methods]the sugar beet variety'KWS7748'was used in the soil cultivation experiment. Its growth index, nutrient content and some physiological indexes were measured under 5 application rate of TM36(0%,0.5%,1%,2%and 3%),and the soil nutrient content and pH value were determined as well.[Results]With the increased application rate of TM36 to the soil, the plant height and stem length of sugar beet seedlings declined significantly, the stem diameter, root area and leaf area increased first and then decreased, and there was no significant difference in plant fresh and dry weights. The photosynthetic capacity and chlorophyll content of the plants increased gradually. The total nitrogen, total phosphorus and total potassium of the plants increased first and then decreased. The proline content in leaves increased, the proline content in roots and the malondialdehyde content in plants declined first and then increased. It can increase the soil pH and the content of inorganic nitrogen and available phosphorus in the soil, and the content of available potassium declined first and then increases.[Conclusion]Judged by each index, application of TM36 in soil promoted the growth of sugar beet seedlings, and the application rate of 1%performed the best.
