A Study on Dynamic Facial Expression Recognition in Preschool Children with Autism
To investigate whether there is a dominan effect on the ability of preschool children with autism to recognize dynamic facial expressions and their recognition of four basic expressions(happiness, sadness, anger, and fear).30 preschool children with autism and 30 typical developing children who are matched in age and intelligence level, were selected and asked to complete a dynamic facial expression matching task. The results showed that the accuracy of matching task in preschool children with autism was significantly lower than that of typically developing children, and the accuracy of recognizing happy expressions in children with autism was significantly higher than the other three expressions, which shows an advantage effect of happiness. These results indicate that preschool children with autism have obstacles in recognizing dynamic facial expressions.
