Analysis of the Role Change of Special Educational Needs Coordinators in England and Its Inspirations
All regular schools in England must have a Special Educational Needs Coordinator(SENCO)to coordinate the special educational needs(SEN)provision with the school.Over the past 3 decades,the updating of legislation related to inclusive education in England has promoted the continuous education and innovation in the role of SENCO.The collaborative responsibilities of the SENCO have been increasingly strengthened;its leadership roles have become more prominent,and it has been recognized as a nationally mandated professional qualification.An in-depth analysis of the characteristics and existing problems of the role change of SENCOs in England offers significant insights for guiding inclusive education reform in our country.The article puts forward suggestions focusing on three aspects:teacher system management,teacher qualification certification and training,and reform of the regular and special education system,with a view to strengthening the construction of China's inclusive education teaching team and related support systems,and promoting the development of equitable and quality inclusive education.
