Analysis on the status and influencing factors of self-efficacy in patients with chronic pain
Objective:This study explores the current situation of self-efficacy level of chronic pain patients and analyzes its influencing factors to provide reference and basis for healthcare professionals to provide targeted improvement measures for patients in the process of pain management.Methods:A convenience sampling method was adopted to conduct a questionnaire using the chronic pain self-efficacy scale(CPSS)on patients with chronic pain in a China-Japan Friendship Hospital in Beijing from April to June 2022.The questionnaire includes 22 items in three dimensions.Results:The total self-efficacy score of chronic patients was(65.5±20.7).The average scores of chronic pain management dimension,physical function dimension,symptom coping dimension were(2.2±0.8),(3.3±1.2)and(2.9±1.2),respectively.Gender,age,education level and employment status affect the level of self-efficacy of patients with chronic pain.Regression analysis showed that age was the most important factor influencing factor.Conclusion:The self-efficacy of chronic pain patients is at a moderate to low level.Health care providers need to develop plans to improve the self-efficacy based on the different character-istics of patients with chronic pain,pay attention to their physical and mental conditions and socio-cultural back-grounds,and develop practical and personalized measures.
