Research progress of pyroptosis and its role in neuropathic pain
Neuropathic pain(NP)caused by damage to the somatosensory nervous system is one of the most common intractable diseases.Previous studies have shown that neuroinflammation and cell death are closely related to the pathophysiology of NP.Pyroptosis is a mode of programmed cell death closely related to the inflammatory process, which can enhance or maintain the inflammatory response by releasing pro-inflammatory cytokines. In this paper,we provide an overview of pyroptosis and its mechanism of action in NP,and discuss the factors that trigger pyroptosis,as well as the progress of research on relevant inhibitors that affect the process of pyroptosis and are applied to the prevention and treatment of NP.
