The Reception of Lu You and His Poetry in the Korean Dynasty's Literary Circles
Lu You was accepted and valued within the literary circles of the Korean Dynasty. This recognition came as literary preferences transitioned from Tang to Song dynasty poetic forms at that time, moving beyond the exclusive emulation of Tang poetry. After the restoration of the status of Song poetry,Lu You became a new benchmark for Korean Dynasty's scholars in their study of Song poetry.Under the exemplary role of Lu's poetry, scholars mainly focused on Lu You himself, his position in the literary world, his poetry and its poetic value, and interpreted and applied Lu's views and works by combining their own poetic practices within the context of the other's viewpoints. This analysis reveals that influenced by the Confucian doctrines, patriotism served as the ideological cornerstone for the literary community's acceptance of Lu You and the eventual establishment of his status as a poetic model.Furthermore,as second language learners,Korean Dynasty's literati paid more attention to how to borrow the vocabulary and imagery in Lu You's poems, and intended to imitate his linguistic style,so as to demonstrate an overseas perspective different from that of the Chinese counterparts.
