From Liang Qichao's View of Cultural History to the Writing of the General History of Chinese Culture in the Early 20th Century
At the beginning of the 20th century,Liang Qichao raised the banner of"historiography revolution"and accelerated the transformation of Chinese historiography from traditional to modern times. In the agitation of the new historical trend of thought, with the strengthening of the specialization of historiography and the shaping of the concept of general history, based on the common understanding of the lack of cultural records in the old historiography, and the realistic demand of inspiring the national spirit through cultural development,a batch of general historical works of Chinese culture appeared in the early 20th century. The basic judgment of cultural history in Liang Qichao's cultural history view has been highlighted or responded to to varying degrees in these works.Pay special attention to explaining the evolution of Chinese culture from the perspective of evolution, and at the same time try to draw the regular cognition of historical cause and effect,so as to provide spiritual power for seeking cultural confidence and realizing national rejuvenation.
