Analysis of Unplanned Return to the Operating Room for Reoperation in Tertiary Public Hospitals
Objective To analyze the situation of unplanned return to the operating room for reoperation in a tertiary public hospital,with the aim of continuously improving medical quality and ensuring medical safety.Methods 31 un-planned re-operations in a tertiary public hospital from the first quarter of 2022 were investigated and analyzed through department proactive reporting and surgical screening on the medical record page of the Medical Records Management Department.Results The incidence rate of unplanned reoperation was 0.45%.The main reasons for un-planned reoperation were postoperative bleeding/hematoma(58.1%),anastomotic leakage(16.1%),and surgical site in-fection(6.5%).The departments with higher incidence rates were thoracic surgery,gastroenterology,and gastrointesti-nal surgery,nail and breast surgery.Conclusion The incidence of unplanned return to the operating room for reopera-tion in the hospital should be regularly summarized and analyzed to report the situation of unplanned return to the op-erating room for reoperation in all departments of the hospital to strengthen management at both hospital and depart-ment levels,reduce the number,incidence and underreporting rate of unplanned return to the operating room for reop-eration.
