Control and Effectiveness Analysis of Average Length of Hospital Stay
Objective To explore the effectiveness of the control method assessed by clinical departments on the aver-age length of hospital stay. Methods Eighty medical staff of Nantong Cancer Hospital were selected from January 2021 to June 2023 as the study subjects.Routine average hospitalization day management was carried out from Janu-ary to December 2021,and from January 2022 to June 2023,the control method was carried out with the assessment of clinical departments as a unit.Compared the average hospitalization days and medical operation indexes(bed utili-zation rate, bed turnover times, bed utilization index)of each department from 2021 to 2023,and compared the scores of the comprehensive quality of medical staff before and after the control. Results Compared with 2021,the average hospitalization days in each quarter of 2022 and the first and second quarters of 2023 decreased to different degrees in each department, and there was a general trend of increase in the patient bed utilization rate, the number of bed turn-overs,and the bed utilization index. The scores of professional skills, diagnosis and treatment efficiency, work attitude, teamwork ability, and service awareness of medical staff after control were higher than those of the pre-control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Conclusion Adopting the control method of assessing clinical departments as a unit can shorten the average hospitalization days of clinical departments, increase the num-ber of bed turnovers, and improve the utilization rate of patient beds.
